Las Nubes is a regional blend of microlots created by a group of smallholder farmers from Monkaaba showcasing their incredible quality. Monkaaba ensures fair market prices for high quality specialty coffee are paid to their farmers and traceability is maintained despite their small harvests.

Las Nubes is made up of a blend of Pink Bourbon from nine different producers, namely, Augusto Ortega, Marleny Galindez, Dani Gomez, Oscar Hoyos, Milton Ortega, Andres Munoz, Fredi Ortega, Carolina Samboni and Diever Galindez. The majority of the producers involved in this blend own and oversee very small plots and, as a result, deliver tiny quantities of coffee that often make up less than a quarter of an exportable bag. Given the nature of the industry, it would be almost impossible to mill. Export such small lots on their own, or at the very least, do it in a way that is economical and affordable, forcing such producers to sell their high-quality coffee to larger buyers that may pay them less than their fair due and may also inevitably blend it into a massive regional lot where little to no traceability would be offered

Las Nubes seeks to serve the same purpose as other regional blends as a means of opening opportunities and giving smallholders a steady ground to build from as they make the difficult and challenging steps towards improving their post harvest processing and giving access to global specialty coffee markets. This in turn helps in creating financial freedom, community, dialog and education that is not often available to smallholders.

Las Nubes means The Clouds in Spanish and refers to the high-quality scores these coffees received on delivery, leading Esnaider to refer to them as being por las nubes. Coincidentally, in a symbolic way, it is also a nod to the dense clouds surrounding the areas where these coffees are grown along the edges of the Colombia Massif.
